Lawyers Boycott Hyderabad Courses After Assault On Advocate Srikanth
Hyderabad, Aug 26 (Maxim News): Mild tension prevailed after an advocate was allegedly attacked during court proceedings, which resulted in advocates boycotting the court duties on Tuesday.
Advocate Srikanth, a member of the Kukatpally Court Bar Association appointed as a commissioner in a case, was allegedly assaulted on Monday, sparking outrage among lawyers.
Condemning the incident, lawyers at Nampally Criminal Court and across the city boycotted their duties.
Former Nampally Criminal Court Bar Association president Raj Vardhan Reddy expressed anger over the recurring assaults on advocates, blaming the government for failing to curb such attacks.
He demanded the immediate implementation of the Advocate Protection Act for the safety of lawyers.
“If lawyers themselves are not protected, how can ordinary citizens expect justice?” he asked, warning that the legal fraternity would launch a constitutional agitation if necessary.
A large number of advocates staged demonstrations on the court premises for nearly an hour, raising slogans against the government. (Maxim News)
