Hyderabad, Feb.27 (Maxim News): City Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar today asked all gun license holders from the city to deposit their guns with official weapon dealers and convey the information about the deposit of their guns to the nearby police stations.
In a statement he said that they had taken the decision by keeping in view of the upcoming Graduate MLC elections on March 14,. He said that they had taken the decision to ensure law and order in the district ahead of the elections.
The CP the weapons can be claimed on March 24 after the completion of the elections. He warned that they would initiate action against those who did not comply with their orders.
“In the interest of public peace and tranquility, all the holders of Arms Licences residing in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad, except those employed on guard duty in the premises of nationalised banks, PSUs and security personnel in Hyderabad, shall deposit their weapons with concerned police stations or with authorised arms dealers. The weapons may be taken back on or after December 13.
The CP cautioned that those who fail to do so will be prosecuted under relevant penal sections and their weapons will be confiscated.
