As per the orders issued by Cyberabad Police Commissioner Avinash Mohanty, the sale of liquor will be strictly prohibited from 5 p.m. on November 9 to 5 p.m. on November 11, coinciding with the polling schedule. Additionally, liquor shops will remain closed on November 14, the day of vote counting. The closure has been enforced under Section 20 of the Excise Act, 1968, and Section 135-C of the Representation of the People Act, 1951.

Commissioner Avinash Mohanty stated that strict measures are necessary to prevent election malpractices and maintain public order. “Strict action will be taken if anyone violates the rules,” he cautioned. He further explained that liquor-related disputes and clashes often occur during polling, creating disturbances, which is why a temporary total ban was necessary.

The by-election in Jubilee Hills has become necessary following the death of former MLA Maganti Gopinath. Election campaigning is in full swing, with top leaders, including Chief Ministers and Union Ministers, reaching out through roadshows and door-to-door interactions. The polling will take place on November 11, and results will be counted on November 14.

Currently, 58 candidates are contesting the seat, though the main fight remains between the three major parties. Meanwhile, both Congress and BRS leaders are trading allegations of bribery and have submitted complaints to the Election Commission. The police have heightened surveillance to ensure adherence to the dry days order and avoid disruptions during the election process.
