Local Body Elections: Telangana Villages Gear Up As Local Election Notification Issued
Local Body Elections | Hyderabad, Oct 9: The excitement of local body elections is sweeping through Telangana’s villages, as the much-anticipated voting season officially gets underway.
District collectors, acting as chief election officers, have released the notification, marking the opening bell for rural electoral contests.
In total, the MPTC (Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituency) and ZPTC (Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency) elections will unfold in two phases across all 31 districts.
This time, the first phase will see polls conducted in 58 revenue divisions, with nominations being accepted for 292 ZPTC seats and 2,963 MPTC seats.
Candidates aiming for ZPTC positions are required to deposit Rs. 5,000 if contesting as general candidates or Rs. 2,500 for reserved categories.
For MPTC seats, deposits stand at Rs. 2,500 for general candidates and Rs. 1,250 for those in reserved categories.

The nomination period is open until October 11, with candidates allowed to withdraw by October 15. Voting will take place on October 23, and results will be declared on November 11.
For the second phase, nominations start on October 13 and can be withdrawn until October 19. Polling for this round is scheduled for October 27.
Notably, results for both phases will be announced together on November 11, ramping up anticipation and marking the conclusion of a decisive rural election season.
