Maharashtra Gram Panchayat Election: AIMIM wins 93 seats

Polling for elections to over 14,000 gram panchayats in 34 of the total 36 districts in the western state had taken place on Friday. Aam Aadmii Party (AAP) probably made its maiden foray into Maharashtra hinterland. A panel of candidates of AAP won the Gram Panchayat election in Dapkyal village in Latur district. As per the results at 11:30 pm, BJP secured 3,236 seats, NCP won 2997, Shiv Sena 2,820, Congress 2,131, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) 28 and Others bagged 2,497.

Hyderabad, Jan 19 (Maxim News): Maharashtra Gram Panchayat Election: AIMIM wins 93 seats… AIMIM has made a strong entry in the general gram panchayat elections in the Maharashtra by winning 93 gram panchayats seats in the different parts in state of Maharashtra.

According to the party sources, AIMIM won Naigaon Bhikapur Gram Panchayat election under the leadership of Dr Tayyab Patel.

9 AIMIM members out of 13 have been elected. While in Ravaraspura Gram Panchayat elections, 5 out of 9 members have been elected under
the leadership of Latif Patel, they said.

The state working president Dr. Gaffar Qadri, Women State President and Asma Sheikh, Election Chief and former District President Sheikh Ahmed, City President Shareek Nakshabandi, Former Councilor Jamir Ahmed Qadri among others have worked hard in the campaign.

A total of 93 members have been elected in the state. These include Naigaon-Bhikapur 9 in Aurangabad taluka, Rawaraspura 5, Abdimandi 5, Shevga 3, Karmad 2, Chitegaon 2 in Paithan taluka, Farola 3, Bhalgaon 5 in Gangapur taluka, Zodegaon 1, Bagdi 1, Raipur 1, Bhendala 1, Wadji 3 in Vaijapur taluka. Mandki 2, Talwada 1, Sillod-Soygaon, Tidka 3, Karanjkheda 3 in Kannad taluka, Nagpur 2, Tapovan 4, Devgaon 1, Karkhana 2, Makranpur 2, Railgaon 2, Hatnur 1, Andhaner 2 have won a total of 65 Gram Panchayat members in Aurangabad district.

Also in Jalna district Ravnaparada 1, Ghansawangi-Hadgaon 2, Narsangli 2, Dharangaon 4 in Jalgaon district, Ghadga 8 in Nanded district, Wajegaon 1, Sengaon 6, Deola Panchal 1, Walani in Udgir taluka have won 3, they added.

It is to mention here that, Shiv Sena-led MVA and Opposition BJP both have claimed victory in elections to Gram Panchayats. NCP leaders claimed that the MVA comprising the Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress has scored a big win in the polls. Former Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis said that the BJP has emerged as the single largest party in these elections.

There are 27,920 gram panchayats in Maharashtra. However, on about 20,000-odd seats, members have already been elected unopposed. At least 14 Thane district villages boycotted the gram panchayat elections to press for their demand to be a part of the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation.
