Maharashtra Minister Declares 14 Villagers From Telangana Would Be Merged With Chandrapur District
Hyderabad, July 17 (Maxim News): Maharashtra Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule’s announcement that the State government has initiated the process to merge 14 villages from Telangana has triggered concern and debate across various sections.
Claiming that Maharashtra holds the revenue records, Bawankule said the 14 villages, located in Rajura and Jiwati taluks, share borders with Adilabad district in Telangana and would be merged with Chandrapur district in Maharashtra, as per reports.
A high-level meeting chaired by Bawankule in Mumbai was attended by representatives of the 14 villages and Chandrapur district officials.
Interestingly, in the past, many villages from Maharashtra had expressed interest in merging with Telangana, impressed by its farmer-friendly policies like Rythu Bandhu and Rythu Bima.
In 2019, leaders from Nanded, Degloor, Kinwat, and other regions had met former CM K. Chandrashekhar Rao requesting a merger with Telangana. Even BJP MLA Shivraj Patil from Raichur once demanded merger with the State.
“In 2025, under Congress, Maharashtra wants to take 14 villages from Telangana. Why? Because our leadership is collapsed and clueless. this is what happens when you are clueless, some claim your land, some divert your water and some sit in other States, redrawing your map,” Anurag Reddy stressed.
