The government is already working with self help groups under this scheme. It decided to purchase buses through these groups and then rent them to the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation. Officials said this plan aims to offer steady income to the groups while also helping the state run more services.

Earlier, the first phase of the scheme delivered 150 buses. These were purchased for 150 women’s groups in the joint districts of Warangal, Karimnagar, Mahabubnagar and Khammam. The new allocation marks a large increase in scale. It also shows that the state wants to expand the scheme across more regions.

Meanwhile, the ministers said this step proves the government’s commitment to the empowerment of women in Telangana. They noted that women’s groups have shown strong capacity to take part in public service projects. Therefore, the government plans to continue supporting them through similar programmes in the future.

The Mahila Shakti scheme is becoming an important part of the state’s effort to link social development with public infrastructure. The new bus allotment also shows growing trust in self help groups. Later phases of the scheme are expected to reach more districts, but officials have not yet shared any further details.
