Later that number came down to 39.50 lakhs.  It is reported that it is likely to decrease some more. The Department of Civil Supplies has concluded that about 9.10 lakh people have consumed a maximum of 8 gas cylinders per year.  With this, the maximum number of cylinders to be given on subsidy in this scheme has been confirmed as eight per year.  The total subsidy to be borne by the government is Rs. 71.27 crore per month and Rs. 855.2 crore per year.

In this, it is estimated that Ujjawala connection users will spend Rs. 38.57 crore and regular gas connection users will spend Rs. 816.65 crore. Although there are 11.58 lakh Ujwala gas connection persons in the state, only 5.89 lakh people have applied for the subsidy cylinder. As the Center is giving a subsidy of Rs. 340 per cylinder on Ujjwala gas, it is enough if the state government pays a subsidy of Rs. 155 per cylinder.
