Maximum Usage Is 8 Gas Cylinder Per Year!

Hyderabad, Feb 29 (Maxim News): The Civil Supplies Department has prepared a list of eligible persons for the subsidy gas scheme implemented by the state government. The Rs. 500 gas cylinder scheme has taken into account three years of consumption by those eligible.

In this calculation, the maximum number of cylinders to be given annually is eight.  A few days ago the officials declared 39.78 lakh people eligible for this scheme. Later that number came down to 39.50 lakhs.  It is reported that it is likely to decrease some more. The Department of Civil Supplies has concluded that about 9.10 lakh people have consumed a maximum of 8 gas cylinders per year.  With this, the maximum number of cylinders to be given on subsidy in this scheme has been confirmed as eight per year.  The total subsidy to be borne by the government is Rs. 71.27 crore per month and Rs. 855.2 crore per year.

In this, it is estimated that Ujjawala connection users will spend Rs. 38.57 crore and regular gas connection users will spend Rs. 816.65 crore. Although there are 11.58 lakh Ujwala gas connection persons in the state, only 5.89 lakh people have applied for the subsidy cylinder. As the Center is giving a subsidy of Rs. 340 per cylinder on Ujjwala gas, it is enough if the state government pays a subsidy of Rs. 155 per cylinder.

While calculating the gas usage for three years, it has been found that some are using very little gas while others are not using any gas at all. 1.10.706 consumers who have not taken a cylinder even once in the last three years. Among them, 18,073 people have Ujjawala gas connections, while 92,633 people have regular connections. All these people who have kept aside the gas cylinders all these years have now applied for the subsidy cylinders.
