Mayor Elections: MIM Holds Crucial Meet
Hyderabad to get its 17th Mayor today
Hydearabad, February 11 (Maxim News): Mayor Elections: The All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) MLA’S & MLC’s and Corporators held a meet at Darussalam before they head to oath taking ceremony followed by the Mayor and Deputy Mayor Election 2021.
In the election held on December 1 to the 150-member GHMC house, the BJP won 48 constituencies, just eight behind the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS).
The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) of Asaduddin Owaisi won 44, and the Congress two.
Mayor Elections:
The TRS had won 99 seats in the last GHMC election (2016), while the BJP had five. The AIMIM retained its 44 seats. In 2016 Bonthu Rammohan, president of the TRS youth wing was unanimously elected the Mayor.

It is to mention here that In the election notification, the Telangana State Election Commission said that the election will be held at 12.30 pm on February 11 and an hour earlier all the 150 corporators would be administered the oath.
State election commissioner C Partha Sarathi also said that if for any reason the elections are not held on February 11, it will be postponed to the next day.
The term of the present Council of GHMC expired on February 10. The post of the Mayor is reserved for a woman Corporator.
