Hyderabad, August 7: A 36 year old cab driver has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a 16 year old girl in Medipally. The incident came to light after the Class X student attended a Good Touch Bad Touch awareness programme at her school.
The accused, identified as Niranjan, a resident of Peerzadiguda, was arrested by Medipally police and remanded to judicial custody.
Awareness Programme Helped Victim Report Alleged Assault
According to police, Niranjan was known to the minor girl. He allegedly sexually assaulted her on August 2 when she was alone at home.
The matter surfaced on Wednesday after the student participated in a Good Touch Bad Touch awareness session conducted at her school.
Following the programme, the girl approached She Teams personnel, broke down in tears and disclosed the alleged assault.
Based on her complaint, Medipally police registered a case and arrested the accused.
Police have launched an investigation to ascertain all the circumstances surrounding the case.
