Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, July 11: A mild earthquake measuring 3.5 on the Richter scale struck Hingoli district in central Maharashtra on Saturday morning, officials said. There were no reports of casualties or damage following the tremor.
According to officials, the earthquake occurred at 11:26 am and originated at a depth of 5 kilometres below the surface.
The latest seismic activity comes just two days after a series of earthquakes shook Hingoli, Parbhani, and Nanded districts.
On Thursday, four tremors ranging between 3.6 and 4.6 magnitude were recorded between 1:37 am and 3:23 am, causing panic among residents.
The epicentre of those tremors was identified as Shirli village in Vasmat taluka of Hingoli district.
The earlier earthquakes resulted in damage to several houses across parts of Hingoli, Parbhani and Nanded districts. However, authorities had reported no loss of life.
Officials continue to monitor the seismic activity in the region, while advising residents to remain alert and follow safety guidelines in the event of further aftershocks.
