Hyderabad, June 10 (Maxim News): Telangana Minister for Minorities Welfare and Public Enterprises Mohammad Azharuddin on Monday reviewed preparations for Muharram 2026 and directed all departments to ensure smooth and peaceful observance of the religious event across the state.
The review meeting took place at the Dr B.R. Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat in Hyderabad. Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, Government Advisor Mohammed Ali Shabbir, public representatives, legislators, senior officials, religious leaders and representatives from various departments attended the meeting.
Minister Azharuddin instructed officials to work in close coordination and complete all arrangements well in advance. He stressed the need to provide devotees with the best possible facilities during the Moharram period.
The minister said public service, development and effective governance remain his top priorities. He assured elected representatives that the government would address development issues in every constituency.
“I am here to work and deliver results. If there are development works or public issues in your constituency, bring them to my notice. I will personally review them and ensure necessary action,” he said.
The minister stated that the Telangana government, under the leadership of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, remains committed to welfare, development and efficient administration. He added that the government is giving equal importance to public convenience and communal harmony during religious events.
Focus on Devotee Facilities and Coordination
During the meeting, Azharuddin directed officials to strengthen arrangements related to security, sanitation, drinking water supply, electricity, road repairs, street lighting, medical services and traffic management.
He asked every department to discharge its responsibilities effectively and ensure that devotees do not face any inconvenience. He also instructed officials to maintain constant coordination until the completion of Muharram observances.
Furthermore, the minister said public suggestions and requests would receive serious consideration. He assured religious leaders and community representatives that the government would examine every issue and take prompt action wherever required.
The minister reiterated that the administration would remain available throughout the Moharram period. He said officials would monitor arrangements continuously and respond quickly to any emerging issues.
Government Committed to Peaceful Celebrations
Azharuddin said the government’s objective is to conduct Muharram ceremonies in a peaceful, dignified and well-organized manner. He emphasized that maintaining communal harmony and ensuring public safety remain top priorities.
Meanwhile, officials from various departments briefed the meeting on preparations already underway. They also discussed measures to improve crowd management, emergency response systems and civic amenities at key Moharram venues.
The minister directed departments to complete pending works immediately and ensure that all facilities are operational before the start of major Moharram events.
Rajya Sabha MP Anil Kumar Yadav, Government Advisor Mohammed Ali Shabbir, Minorities Residential Educational Institutions Society Vice Chairman Faheemuddin Qureshi, MLAs Mir Zulfeqar Ali, Mohammed Mubeen, Jaffer Hussain, Majid Hussain, Kausar Mohiuddin and Marri Rajasekhar Reddy also attended the meeting.
MLCs Mirza Riyaz Ul Hassan Effendi and Mirza Rahmath Baig, Telangana Waqf Board representatives, Telangana Minorities Finance Corporation Chairman Obedullah Kotwal, HMWSSB Managing Director Ashok Reddy, Minorities Welfare Secretary B. Shafiullah, senior officials, religious leaders and community representatives were also present. (Maxim News)
