Municipal Polls: Transgenders As Co-option Says CM Revanth Reddy

Hyderabad, Jan. 12 (Maxim News): Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Monday announced a major policy move to nominate a transgender person as a co option member and corporator in upcoming municipal corporation elections.

He said the step will give the transgender community a direct platform to raise and address their own issues within local bodies.

Speaking at Praja Bhavan after inaugurating Bal Bharosa and Pranam day care centres, Revanth Reddy said the cabinet will take a formal decision on the proposal soon.

He stated that representation will ensure dignity, recognition, and participation for transgenders in public life.

Moreover, he said such inclusion will allow the community to speak for itself rather than depend on others. He also announced that the government will provide government jobs and Indiramma houses to eligible transgender persons.

Therefore, he said, the state aims to ensure equal opportunities and social security. He stressed that social justice remains a core objective of the Telangana government.

Revanth Reddy also announced strict measures against government employees who neglect their parents.

Revanth Reddy said the government will deduct 10 to 15 percent of salaries from such employees.

The deducted amount will go directly into their parents’ bank accounts. He added that the government will bring a law on this issue during the ongoing budget session.

He further said that complaints against such neglect can be filed with tahsildars and MPDOs.

Accordingly, authorities will enforce salary deductions without delay. He questioned how people who ignore parental responsibility can show responsibility towards society.

Therefore, he said, the government must intervene to correct such behaviour.

The chief minister stated that the government is working to provide healthcare access to every citizen in the state.

At the same time, he said the administration seeks social justice for all sections. He acknowledged that some dissatisfaction exists due to classification issues.

However, he expressed confidence that these concerns will be resolved soon.

Revanth Reddy said Telangana conducted a population census along with a caste survey after nearly a century. He added that opportunities should align with population data.

He also claimed that the Centre adopted the Telangana census model for the national exercise this year. As a result, he said, Telangana has emerged as a role model for the country.

He clarified that the government does not claim to have solved all problems in two years.

Instead, he said, the focus remains on preparing clear plans to address existing issues.

He recalled that earlier access to Praja Bhavan remained limited to influential individuals. Now, he said, ordinary citizens can freely enter and ring the grievance bell.

Revanth Reddy reiterated that the government aims to deliver justice to every section.

Reddy urged public support to strengthen governance and drive development.
