Hyderabad, Feb. 11: The Musi River Rejuvenation project has taken its first major step as the Telangana government officially began land acquisition for riverfront development.
The government issued a fresh notification on Tuesday under the Musi River Development Corporation to start the process.
The notification marks the formal launch of land acquisition in selected river basin areas.
Therefore, officials have begun groundwork to secure land required for the ambitious Musi River Rejuvenation plan.
Musi River Rejuvenation to Cover 55 KM Stretch
In the first phase, the government decided to acquire over 50 acres in Golconda and Gandipet mandals of Ranga Reddy district.
Officials have already released a detailed list of survey numbers and villages. Meanwhile, authorities assured affected landowners of fair compensation.
The government stated that it will pay compensation based on the current market value.
However, it also invited objections from landowners. Those who have concerns must submit written representations within the stipulated deadline mentioned in the notification.
The larger Musi River Rejuvenation project will span Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, and Medchal Malkajgiri districts.
It will cover 14 mandals and 46 villages. Officials plan to take up development works in phases along a 55 kilometer stretch of the river.
The project aims to clean the Musi River and improve the surrounding areas.
In addition, the government plans to develop tourism centers, parks, and international standard infrastructure along both riverbanks.
As land acquisition gains momentum, groundwork for construction may begin soon.
Officials expect the Musi River Rejuvenation project to move into the execution phase once the initial acquisition process concludes.
