Nagarkurnool, July 19: Authorities have suspended the Principal, warden, ANM nurse and four kitchen staff of the Primitive Tribal Group Residential School at Mannanur in Nagarkurnool district after a Nagarkurnool food poisoning incident left 26 students ill.
The action follows an inquiry into the incident that occurred last week after students allegedly consumed contaminated food and water at the residential school.
Nagarkurnool Food Poisoning Prompts Inquiry
According to officials, around 26 students fell ill after eating khichdi served for breakfast. Students also complained that contaminated drinking water was being supplied on the campus.
The affected students were shifted to a hospital, where they received treatment. Officials said all of them have recovered and have since been discharged.
Taking serious note of the Nagarkurnool food poisoning incident, the authorities suspended the Principal, warden, ANM nurse and four kitchen staff members for alleged negligence.
Officials said negligence affecting students’ health would not be tolerated. They have also ordered a comprehensive inquiry into the incident.
The authobrities warned that strict action would be taken against those found responsible if similar incidents occur in the future.
Meanwhile, a special mobnitoring mechanism has been introduced to regularly inspect food quality in residential schools across the State. (Maxim News)
