- Nalgonda X Roads Owaisi Junction corridor review by GHMC
- Nalgonda X Roads corridor works near 80 percent complete
Hyderabad: The Nalgonda X Roads Corridor connecting Saidabad, IS Sadan, and Owaisi Junction is set to become operational by April, according to GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan. He reviewed the progress of the Comprehensive Development Corridor on Tuesday and stressed the need to complete the remaining work on time. The corridor aims to ease traffic congestion in South Hyderabad by creating a conflict free route.
The project runs from Nalgonda X Roads through Saidabad and IS Sadan to Owaisi Junction. Officials are developing it as a comprehensive development corridor to improve traffic movement in this busy stretch. During the review, the GHMC Commissioner examined the work on the ground and assessed the pace of construction. Meanwhile, officials briefed him on the current status of the project and the challenges involved in completing the remaining portions.

The corridor includes a 2,530 metre long main flyover. Authorities are executing the project at an estimated cost of 620 crore under the EPC turnkey mode. Officials informed the Commissioner that nearly 80 percent of the works have already been completed. However, some critical sections still require faster execution. Therefore, the Commissioner focused on timelines and coordination during his field level inspection.
During the inspection, the Commissioner issued clear directions to speed up the work. He said, “Commisioner RV Karnan instructed engineers and contractors to expedite the remaining works and ensure that the corridor is made operational by April.” He also directed officials to obtain the required traffic diversion permissions. These permissions are needed for the stretch between Saidabad and Dhobighat Junction. This step, he said, will help ensure uninterrupted progress of the remaining works.
The Commissioner also stressed the importance of smooth connectivity once the corridor opens to the public. He instructed officials to complete land acquisition for the service roads at the earliest. According to him, timely completion of service roads will support better traffic flow and reduce pressure on the main flyover. Meanwhile, officials noted that coordination among departments will play a key role in meeting the April deadline.
The Nalgonda X Roads Corridor is expected to play a major role in reducing congestion in South Hyderabad. Once operational, it will provide a continuous route across several busy junctions. Therefore, GHMC officials are focusing on completing the pending works without delay. Further monitoring is expected in the coming weeks to ensure that the project stays on schedule.
