Hyderabad, May 3 (Maxim News): NALSAR University of Law has entered into an MoU with the Telangana Advocates Welfare Trust, Department of Law, Telangana to provide Training for Young practising advocates in the State from May 11. The MoU was signed by Prof. (Dr.) V. Balakista Reddy, Registrar, NALSAR and B. Ramanjanyulu, Secretary, Telangana Advocates Welfare Trust in the presence of B.V.Prasad, Advocate General, Telangana, V. Niranjan Rao, Secretary, Department of Law, Telangana, Gandra Mohan Rao, Trust Member and other Advocates.
The aim of the MoU was to provide training for young practicing advocates having two to five years of experience at trial courts in Telangana State. The first batch of Advocates consists of 100 Members across all Bar Councils of the State. NALSAR Vice-Chancellor, Prof. (Dr) Faizan Mustafa thanked the government for giving a unique opportunity to NALSAR.
With the advent of the State of Telangana, several challenges stand before it to make the State run by good governance. One of such challenge is lack of specialized training for lawyers hailing from the State of Telangana in rendering quality legal services. The State Government has always focused on providing specialised training for judicial officers, but did not focus much on imparting specialised training to the lawyer fraternity who are the bridge between the courts and services seekers/public. By virtue of specialised training the judicial officers are in a position to discharge their works judiciously. However, same is not the case with the advocates practicing before courts of law. Lack of proper training and incorrect learning in the field of law would contribute to stagnancy of civil disputes and improper adjudication of legal disputes. This in turn would also lead to loss of public confidence in the entire legal fraternity and judiciary as an Institution will suffer.
The Advocates training programme is not just focused on preparing the lawyers for litigation before the courts alone, but lawyers would also be specially trained in rendering advisory services on various subjects relating to Constitution, Civil and Business Laws, Criminal Laws & Public Policy laws.
Training programme will focus on the following topics: Advocacy skills required for handling litigation matters or disputes arising before the court of law, Research Skills to carry out legal research on legal issues, Improvisation of skill-set to render legal advisory services to resolve pre-litigation issues, Specialised training in drafting legal documents, Contracts/Agreements and Court pleadings, Training to enable the trainee Advocates to get a first hand understanding and exact functioning of the Courts (from lowest to the Highest Court) in India, Training to improve oratory skills in English, Professional
Ethics: Dos & Don’ts of legal profession and breach of professional ethics and consequences arising thereof.
Further, the training programme has been designed to increase public confidence in the legal system by setting clear ethical standards for the practice of law and training future lawyers about their ethical obligations to society and the role they play in promoting the integrity of the legal system as a whole. Training programme also helps in enhancing the skills of the advocate trainees including to builds better communications skills, develops hidden talent, ensures consistent quality, provides greater focus, produces more effective/productive efforts and clarifies the concept of marketing as a business process.
