Mancherial, Sept. 29: The death toll in the Naspur road accident rose to five after another woman succumbed to her injuries at a hospital in Warangal on Monday night.
Police identified the deceased as Ramtenki Divya Vani, 33, a native of Gudipelli Venkatapur village in Mancherial district. She died at around 11 pm while undergoing treatment.
Five Women Killed in Naspur Auto-Lorry Collision
The accident occurred on Monday morning when a lorry collided with an auto-rickshaw in Naspur. Two women, Aggu Soundarya, 38, and Chintakuntla Laxmi, 38, died at the scene, while six others sustained injuries.
Later that afternoon, Thatipelli Soniya, 20, of Dharmaraopet and Thogari Sumalatha, 25, of Gudipelli Venkatapur died while receiving treatment.
The victims were saleswomen working at different shopping malls in Mancherial town. They were travelling to work when the accident occurred.
According to eyewitnesses, the auto-rickshaw driver lost control after a two-wheeler entered the road at a junction. The driver reportedly attempted a sudden U-turn, bringing the vehicle into the path of an oncoming lorry.
The lorry collided with the auto-rickshaw, leaving several passengers seriously injured. Police suspect negligence by the auto-rickshaw driver and are investigating the circumstances of the accident.
The condition of another injured woman was reported to be critical.
