Nepalese Gangs | Hyderabad, May 8 (Maxim News) : Hyderabad Police Commissioner, V. C. Sajjanar has urged residents to remain alert while hiring domestic workers, drivers, and security guards from outside regions without proper background verification.
The advisory came after the murder of Tanuja Ranjan, wife of former Andhra Pradesh DGP Vinay Ranjan Rao, at their residence in Jubilee Hills. Police suspect the involvement of a domestic worker identified as Kalpana, who allegedly fled with valuables after the crime.
According to police officials, the accused allegedly committed the murder inside the house before escaping from the scene. The incident shocked residents because it occurred in one of Hyderabad’s most secure and upscale localities.
Reacting to the incident, Sajjanar appealed to citizens to exercise caution before employing domestic workers and support staff. He said several robbery and theft cases reported in different parts of the country involved organised criminal gangs operating under the guise of household workers.
The senior police officer stressed the importance of proper background verification before appointing workers in homes. He advised residents to submit identification details, photographs, and address proof of workers at nearby police stations for verification.
Sajjanar said many people continue to hire workers without checking their backgrounds despite repeated incidents reported across India. He urged citizens to remain vigilant and immediately inform police about suspicious activities.
Police officials also advised apartment associations, gated communities, and resident welfare groups to maintain records of domestic workers and security personnel. Authorities believe stronger verification systems and regular monitoring can help prevent crimes targeting households.
The Jubilee Hills murder case has once again raised concerns over domestic security arrangements in Hyderabad. Police teams are continuing the investigation and efforts are underway to trace the accused and recover the stolen valuables.
