According to the NIA, Haris allegedly acted as the main conspirator in procuring the explosives seized in the case.

The case began after Kerala Police seized a large consignment of explosives in Malappuram on February 7, 2026.

Authorities recovered 89,600 explosive sticks and 10,500 NONEL shock tubes from a lorry. The vehicle stood inside the compound of Farha Hollow Bricks Company on Chemmad Thalappara Road.

NIA expands probe into explosives procurement

Kerala Police intercepted the lorry and arrested three people linked to the consignment. The accused allegedly lacked valid licences or permissions to possess or transport the explosives.

Later, the NIA re-registered the case and took over the investigation. During the probe, the agency searched 19 locations across three states.

Meanwhile, the latest arrest follows the detention of three more accused from Vijayapura in Karnataka on August 7.

With Haris’s arrest, the NIA has now arrested ten people in the case. Investigators are examining the wider conspiracy behind the procurement and movement of the explosives.
