Hyderabad, April 29: The 9th National Facilities Managers (MF) Summit 2023 was held in the city on Friday at Anvaya Convention at Gachibowli. It was a day-long annual conference of Facilities Management professionals and continued late into the night on Friday.

Shrikant Sinha. CEO, TASK speaking on the occasion said the days of skilling in the last year of a course in any college is not going to help. The ladder learning approach in skilling will help a lot. TASK has trained so far 7.5 lakh students, 15000 faculty services were used and 700 colleges came under its fold.

Speaking further he added that just 62,000 out of a total of 1.2 lakh Engineering seats are filled this year. And 94% had opted for only IT, Computer Science, and related courses. There were few takers for other streams—Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, etc. This will lead to another kind of shortage in the future, he said.

Speaking about trends in Facilities Management, he said predictive and preventive maintenance is going to be new in the industry.

Following by inauguration a panel discussion was held on Navigating the post covid era with a Hybrid model. The panel threw light on employee safety and workplace requirements and strategies for workplace trends for the next 3 years.

One of the Panelists Kiran Pendyala observed that mid-career professionals are resisting moving back to offices. These professionals compare work culture in the West where the Hybrid model is a norm. A culture of enterprise, innovation, and creativity cannot be built remotely. Those who work remotely miss cross-collaborations. A fair play policy needs to be crafted, she said.

Manisha Saboo, President of HYSEA said flexibility has to be built into the policy.

Green Awards were presented during the summit. Awards were given away for the best sustainable practices followed by major IT Parks, and communities. The winners of these awards include GAR Infobahn, Q City IT Park, My Home Twitza IT Park; Divyasree Orion IT Park; NSL Arena IT Park; PEPSICO GBS, Hyderabad; NITHAM, Gachibowli; L&T Serene County, Gachibowli

Welcoming the gathering, Satyanarayana Mathala the President of Telangana Facilities Management Council, an apex body of Facilities Management professionals said more than 400 participated in the annual conference. The TFMC currently has 500 members. By next year it would like to add 500 more.

We plan to do more Handlooms melas to promote Handlooms Monday. In 2023 we will do 11 Handloom melas, reach 4 lakh IT employees and generate 4 crore rupees in sales for weavers.

TFMC pledged to support the government in lake restoration. Some of the initiatives it will take during the year are creating a green army to save lakes. Encourage digital Literacy in government schools, he said.

The National FMs Summit-2022 is an annual conference of Facilities Management professionals. A dialogue with the Human Resources team of Steel Case Inc, an American manufacturer of furniture was held. Steelcase is the manufacturer of case goods, seating, storage, and partitioning systems for offices, hospitals, classrooms, and residential interiors. It is said to be one of the top furniture manufacturers in the world. Women of steel will be introduced during the summit.

HR Professional Gaurav Thakur explained how they made it possible to run a production line with 100% women force in a male-dominated field. 65 women are said to be working in this plant, located in Pune. This program was lined up to encourage more diversity in workplaces and also to encourage more women in the manufacturing sector, which men still dominate.

AI Greeting Robot and Dining Robot were displayed by Prospero Enterprises. Prospero Enterprises showcased Dinerbot, Guiderbot, Disinfection Robot, and Butlerbot.
