Hyderabad, Feb.16 (Maxim News): Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman asserted that there was no truth in the Telangana State Government’s contention that injustice was done in the Budget for States which accounted for more tax collections.
Speaking to the media here, she said that the reaction of the State Government to the Union Budget came to her notice. Telangana stood in a better position in tax collection and economic growth. The share for the State in the tax receipts by the Centre was also high, she said and added that no injustice was done to States which fared better in tax collections. She also said that keeping good relations with all the States was the policy of NDA Government.
The Union Minister said that reduction of State’s share in taxes from 42 to 41 per cent was not fully the Centre’s decision. The Centre followed the recommendations of the 15th Finance Commission in this matter, she stated.
Nirmala said that she was touring important cities in the country for eliciting the views of representatives of Trade and Industry on the Central budget. As part of it, she came here, she pointed out. (Maxim News)
