New Delhi, Oct. 28: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman criticised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his remarks on the Tata Group, urging him not to spread hatred through political criticism.
Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, had alleged that the Tata Group was being deliberately weakened. He also argued that Indian businesses should not become pawns in the hands of politicians.
“The Tata Group is being deliberately destroyed. Indian business is not a pawn of Modi and Shah. You do not have the courage. We do. We will ensure that justice is done,” Gandhi said.

The controversy centres on leadership and governance at Tata Sons, the holding company of the Tata Group.
Reports indicate that Tata Trusts Chairman Noel Tata raised objections to the reappointment of N. Chandrasekaran as executive chairman of Tata Sons.

The developments have prompted discussion about the company’s leadership and decision-making process.
Gandhi referred to the dispute while criticising the central government. He called on business leaders to express their concerns openly and argued that political leaders should not control Indian businesses.
Sitharaman, meanwhile, rejected Gandhi’s approach and criticised his comments. The exchange reflects a wider political debate over corporate governance and the relationship between business groups and the government.
The leadership issue at Tata Sons has drawn attention because of the group’s prominent position in India’s industrial and economic landscape. However, the political claims surrounding the dispute remain allegations and should be distinguished from established findings about the company’s governance.
