SIR Voter Deletions: Minister Ponguleti Accuses BJP

Hyderabad, Oct. 28: Telangana Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy has accused the BJP-led Central government of facilitating voter deletions under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

Ponguleti alleged that the Centre was using the Election Commission to remove voters’ names. He said Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge had been raising concerns over SIR for the past two years.

However, Ponguleti’s allegations of deliberate voter deletion remain political claims. The concerns relate to the ongoing debate over electoral-roll revisions and the need to ensure that eligible voters retain their voting rights.
