Gandhinagar/Hyderabad, May 11 (Maxim News): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday participated in the Somnath Amrit Mahotsav organized in Gir Somnath district of Gujarat to mark the 75th anniversary of the reconstruction of the historic Somnath temple. The famous Somnath temple, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas, was beautifully decorated. The Prime Minister gave a powerful message at the event organized on this occasion. Recalling the Pokhran nuclear tests, he said that this is a symbol of India’s strong political will. He made it clear that no power in the world has been able to subdue or crush India.
‘National interest is supreme. No pressure can dampen our resolve,’ Modi said. He said that under the leadership of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, India did not even consider any international pressure and that national interest would always come first. He described Somnath as not just a temple but a symbol of the country’s strong resolve. He recalled Sardar Patel’s vision. He said that the Somnath journey from destruction to reconstruction reflects an unbroken civilization. He said that Somnath Amrit Parv is not just a festival, but an inspiration for India for the next thousand years. The Prime Minister participated in the Abhishekam, Dhwaja Puja and Maha Puja amidst Vedic mantras at the Somnath temple. On this occasion, heavy security arrangements were made at the Somnath temple.
Mega Road Show
Earlier, the Prime Minister took part in a roadshow from the helipad to Veer Hamirji Circle. Thousands of people participated in the roadshow, which was about 1.5 km long. The Prime Minister was welcomed with traditional dances, waving flags and chanting slogans. Meanwhile, the Prime Minister released a commemorative stamp and coin commemorating the glory of the Somnath temple during the celebrations. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi and other leaders honored the Prime Minister. (Maxim News)
