Operation Sindoor: Owaisi Demands Rebuttal of Chinese Mediation Claim
Hyderabad, 01 January (Maxim News): AIMIM president and Lok Sabha MP Asaduddin Owaisi on Wednesday demanded that the Union government must strongly rebut China’s claim of mediating between India and Pakistan during Operation Sindoor, calling it a direct affront to India’s honour and sovereignty.
Owaisi said that restoring normal relations with China cannot come at the cost of India’s dignity or independent decision making. He stressed that matters involving India and Pakistan must remain strictly bilateral, without any third party intervention.
“After US President (Donald Trump) announced a ceasefire before us and claims to have used trade sanctions to secure peace, we now have the Chinese foreign minister making similar claims officially. This is an affront to India and must be strongly rebutted by the government,” Owaisi said in a social media post late on Wednesday.
China trying to equate India and Pakistan, says Owaisi
The Hyderabad MP alleged that China was deliberately trying to place India and Pakistan on the same level while projecting itself as a superior power in South Asia. He questioned whether such claims were part of any understanding reached during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to China.
“Is this what the Modi government agreed to when the PM visited China,” he asked.
Owaisi said the Chinese Foreign Minister’s claim of mediation was surprising and required an immediate and official response from New Delhi. He added that the Centre must clearly assure the nation that no third party mediation is acceptable in matters related to India and Pakistan.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi had on Tuesday stated that tensions between India and Pakistan were among several “hot issues” mediated by China during the year. However, India has consistently rejected any such assertion.
New Delhi has maintained that the May 7 to May 10 conflict between India and Pakistan, following the Pahalgam terror attack, was resolved through direct talks between the Director Generals of Military Operations of both countries.
India has also repeatedly stated that there is no place for third party intervention in India Pakistan issues. Reiterating this position, Owaisi said the Centre must defend India’s sovereignty firmly and without ambiguity.
He concluded that India’s honour, security and diplomatic autonomy must never be compromised under any circumstances.
