Osmania Medical College’s prestigious annual event, OSMECON 2022, invigorates the budding medicos to dream big!

Hyderabad, September 1st, 2022: The students of Osmania Medical College hosted the 12th Edition of the prestigious, OSMECON 2022, a national undergraduate medical conference attended by medicos from all over the country, at Osmania Medical College, Hyderabad. The Conference was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Dr G.N. Rao, world renowned ophthalmologist and Founder and Chair, Board of Trustees, LV Prasad Eye Institute. Guest of Honour and Principal, Osmania Medical College, Dr P. Shashikala Reddy; Dr Kiranmai, Vice Principal, Osmania Medical College; Dr Jaya, Vice Principal, Osmania Medical College; Dr Manisha Sahay, Faculty Advisor OSMECON; Dr Rakesh Sahay, Scientific Committee member and Dr M Pari Plavi, Founder-Convener of OSMECON; were among the distinguished guests who graced the Conference.

OSMECON being held since 2010, provides a rostrum for students to open new doors of creativity and skills. This much awaited annual event serves as a platform for students to showcase their latent talent and innovative research works to the world, while being a source of learning from innumerable active and passive events and informative workshops. Over 2000 delegates including students, alumni and medical professionals, from all over India and abroad, attended the Conference.

Speaking on the occasion Dr G. N. Rao eulogised the students of Osmania Medical College for being research and innovation oriented, which makes you to excel in your profession, stand out among your peers. Drawing from his enormous experience, he said the key to success is time management and discipline.

Dr P. Shashikala Reddy, Principal, Osmania Medical College, flanked by Dr M Pari Plavi, Founder-Convener of OSMECON; faculty & students, at the valedictory of the OSMECON 2022, an undergraduate medical conference hosted by students of Osmania Medical College, held today at OMC, Hyderabad.

Dr P. Shashikala Reddy, in her address wanted the students to pursue their dreams despite all odds and bring laurels to their Alma Mater Osmania Medical College. She commended the students for putting up a wonderful scientific extravaganza which blends innovation in medicine with science, technology, art and literature.

An array of well curated and insightful topics were well articulated by the eminent faculty at the Conference. Some interesting topics included AI in medicine by Dr Shailesh Kumar, Chief of Data Sciences at Reliance-Jio; Virtual reality application in medicine by Vishal Reddy, CEO, Wowsome; Dare to diagnose!; Euthanasia and it’s perception; CAR-T cell immunotherapy a panacea in blood cancer, among others.

The students and participants had exciting contests to evoke competitive spirit besides being an opportunity to enhance knowledge, The contests included Poster Presentation with the theme Gut-Brain Axis and ‘Non-Verbal Communication; OSMECON’s Medquiz; Debate on Do public-private partnerships (PPP’s) enable health promotion, equity and sustainability?; INVICTUS, the poetry writing competition had two topics of Rising in Kindness and Inside the mind of a patient visiting an Adolescent Health Clinic; Graphilia, the essay writing competition had topics of The Science behind Wellness- through Yoga and Meditation. Art Attack, the art competition was on the theme, Food For Nourishment, Healing And Prevention and Shuttermedics, the photography competition, had the theme of An Alternate Approach To Healing.

The winners of the various Contests were

Students of Dr Balasaheb Vikhe Patil Rural Medical College, Maharashtra; Peri Sowmya, Aditya Jain, Mudit Jain, Paavan Taneja, Bhaweeka Varanjani, Anushka Pani, Shubham Tikaria, Swatam Rajesh Shetti, Navya Gupta and Soumya Gangwar; were the winners of the SYMPOSIUM contest. The winners of the CASE PRESENTATION contest were Putta Yuktha, Sri Padmavati Women’s Medical College, Tirupati; Charan Aditya Reddy, Gandhi Medical College, Hyderabad; A. Sanaina, SDM College of medical sciences and Akshath Sharma, Father muller medical College, Karnataka. The winners of the PAPER PRESENTATION contest were Ratnesh Mishra, JJM Medical College, Karnataka; Rohith. K, Kakatiya Medical College, Warangal; Saikiran K, Kakatiya Medical College, Warangal and K. Sai Tejaswi Reddy, NRI Medical College, Guntur and the winners of the MED QUIZ were V. Apoorva, Osmania Medical College, Hyderabad and Md. Hashmi, Osmania Medical College, Hyderabad.
