Osmania University And Abode Biotech India Pvt Ltd Forge Strategic Collaboration

Hyderabad, March 31 (Maxim News): Osmania University (OU) and Abode Biotech India Pvt. Ltd have signed a memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on joint research, academic programs, faculty exchange, student internships, training, infrastructure usage, research proposals and other collaborative efforts, yesterday evening.

The initial term of the MoU is for three years, with the possibility of renewal upon mutual consent. Dr. Hameeda Bee from OU’s Department of Microbiology is the nodal officer for this collaboration.

Present at the MoU signing event were Prof. D. Ravinder, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of Osmania University, Prof. P. Laxminarayana, Registrar of OU, Prof. B. Reddiya Naik, OSD to VC, Prof. Karunasagar, Dean of the Faculty of Science, Prof. Veeriah, Principal of Science College, Prof. B. Sandeeptha, and Dr. Hameeda Bee from OU, along with Mr. M. Sreenadh and Ms. Shalini from Abode Biotech Pvt Ltd.

The Department of Microbiology at OU is engaged in researching microbial-based technologies to address global health issues such as emerging antimicrobial resistance, climate change, and loss of biodiversity. Recent advancements in microbial sciences have shown significant progress in meeting the Sustainable Development Goals. With the theme of ‘Make in India,’ the department aims to transfer lab-developed technologies to industrial-scale production, making them market-ready.

The collaboration with Abode Biotech, a pioneer in microbial-based products for human/animal health, aquaculture, and agriculture, will facilitate the scaling up of research activities. This interface will benefit PhD students, enabling collaborative research studies at both the lab and industry levels. Additionally, both organizations will undertake national skill development programs for PG and PhD students. OU’s Department of Microbiology has initiated an M.Sc. Fermentation Technology program to equip students with market-driven skills, enhancing their employability in various biotech sectors.

Given the post-pandemic demand for microbial-based immune boosters, this MoU promises a mutually beneficial outcome for Osmania University and Abode Biotech Pvt. Ltd. (Maxim News)
