Over 8 Lakh Visitors Celebrate Indian Culture at ‘Bharat Utsav’ Festival in Moscow
Moscow/Hyderabad, July 16 (Maxim News): Over 8.25 lakh people gathered in the heart of Moscow to celebrate Indian culture at the ‘Bharat Utsav’, a vibrant nine-day festival that concluded recently at Manezhnaya Square, one of the city’s most iconic venues.
Held from July 5 to 13, the festival was part of the city-wide ‘Summer in Moscow’ initiative and showcased the rich diversity of Indian traditions through more than 500 cultural events. From yoga and meditation to Bollywood dance, Indian cuisine, and traditional crafts, visitors experienced an immersive journey into the soul of India.

More than 150 artists and craftsmen from India participated in the event, conducting creative workshops and live demonstrations that introduced Muscovites and tourists alike to the depth and vibrancy of India’s heritage.
States like Delhi, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Rajasthan, Kashmir, Nagaland, Gujarat, and Odisha presented their unique art forms, clothing, food, music, and dance traditions. Festival-goers tried saris, henna art, traditional Indian painting, and Indian classical dance forms like Kathak and Odissi.
The festival also hosted Hindi language sessions, spiritual lectures, and meditation workshops, which drew large crowds, particularly from yoga enthusiasts. Yoga teachers from Russia and the Embassy of India’s Cultural Centre led sessions on asanas, pranayama, and yoga philosophy.
One of the standout attractions was the Indian goods fair, where visitors explored everything from Kannauj’s essential oils and Jodhpur wood carvings to Rajasthan’s blue ceramics and Kashmir’s pashmina shawls. The Indian food courts, offering spicy street food and regional delicacies, were among the most visited areas of the festival.
‘Bharat Utsav’ served not only as a cultural bridge but also as a strong symbol of India-Russia friendship, introducing Russian citizens to India’s timeless values of unity in diversity, wellness, and hospitality.(Maxim News)
