- Hyderabad-Phuket flight operated by Air India Express faces nose-wheel issue
- Phuket Airport suspends operations after Boeing 737-Max8 incident
A Hyderabad-Phuket flight operated by Air India Express experienced a nose-wheel issue after landing at Phuket International Airport on Wednesday. The airline confirmed the incident in a statement. The aircraft had been operating a scheduled service between Hyderabad and Phuket.
Authorities temporarily suspended flight operations at Phuket airport following the incident. Sources said the aircraft remained stuck on the runway. As a result, airport activity was halted for a period while officials handled the situation.
The airline later confirmed the issue in an official statement. “We confirm that our Hyderabad-Phuket flight on March 11 experienced an issue with the nose wheel at Phuket Airport,” Air India Express said in the statement. The nose wheel is a critical component of an aircraft’s landing gear system. It helps control the aircraft while taxiing, taking off, and landing.
The aircraft involved in the incident was a Boeing 737 MAX 8. However, the number of passengers onboard was not immediately known at the time of reporting. Meanwhile, the airline said its crew followed all safety procedures after the issue occurred.
“The crew followed all standard protocols, and guests were deplaned,” Air India Express said in the statement. The airline did not provide additional details about the technical problem or the condition of the aircraft.
According to flight tracking website flightradar24.com, Flight IX 938 departed from Hyderabad at 6.42 am. This was later than its scheduled departure time of 6.20 am. The aircraft then landed at Phuket International Airport at 11.40 am local time.
Later, airport authorities and airline officials continued to assess the situation after the aircraft stopped on the runway. Further details about the cause of the nose-wheel issue were not immediately available.
