Paddy Cultivation Will Increase Significantly In Telangana: Thummala
Paddy Cultivation | Hyderabad, June 7 (Maxim News): Minister for Agriculture Tummala Nageswara Rao and Minister for Irrigation Uttam Kumar Reddy said that rice cultivation will increase significantly in the country, especially in Telangana.
The Ministers inaugurated the Global? Rice Summit – 2024 organized by the International Commodity Institute (ICI) in collaboration with the Government of Telangana at Taj Krishna Hotel, Hyderabad.

Representatives of 25 countries including India, Scientists affiliated to ICAR and representatives of rice millers associations attended this conference.
Tummala said that 26 million metric tons of rice is produced annually in India. He said that the country has become the rice storehouse of the world. While 220 varieties of rice are cultivated in Telangana. The Telangana Sona variety of rice is very popular all over the world. He said that the new government in the state is encouraging farmers on a large scale. He expressed confidence that rice exports will increase further in the coming days in view of the demand in the local and global markets.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the government will support agriculture in all ways. He said that the government would collect the grain grown by the farmers at minimum support prices. He said that fortified rice will be supplied under various schemes. He said that there are three thousand state-of-the-art rice mills in the state. He said that the production of rice in Telangana is equal to that of Thailand while the irrigation resources are increasing in the state.
Planning Commission Vice President G. Chinna Reddy, Agriculture Department Secretary Raghunandan Rao, Civil Supplies Department Commissioner DS Chauhan, International Commodity Institute President Jeremy Swinger, and others participated in this program. (Maxim News)
