Constitution Amendment Bill Likely to Draw Attention

One of the major legislative issues expected to generate debate is the proposed 130th Constitutional Amendment Bill.

According to reports, the Bill proposes that the Prime Minister, Chief Ministers, Union Ministers, and State Ministers would automatically vacate their offices if they remain in judicial custody for 30 consecutive days while facing serious criminal charges.

The Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) examining the proposal is expected to finalise and submit its report before the session, paving the way for discussions in Parliament.

With an extensive legislative agenda and several contentious political issues expected to dominate proceedings, the nearly three-week Monsoon Session is likely to witness intense debates and heated exchanges between the Treasury and Opposition benches.
