Hyderabad, Sept.23 (Maxim News): Janasena Party president Pawan Kalyan has underscored the need for water conservation in Andhra Pradesh as there was a poor water management with heavy rains and floods. He attributed the increasing migrations from Prakasam, Srikakulam, Anantapur and Kurnool districts to poor state of agriculture sector.
He expressed serious concern over depleting underground water even in the catchment areas of rivers in Andhra Pradesh. Noted environmentalist and water conservator Rajendra Singh, who was known as “Waterman of India”, called on Pawan Kalyan at Janasena Party office in Hyderabad on Monday. They discussed about uranium mining and exploration in Telugu States and water conservation and failure of rulers to protect water bodies.
Pawan Kalyan shared the views expressed by the Chenchu tribes and environmentalists at the recently held round table conference organized under the leadership of Janasena over uranium mining and exploration followed by people’s concerns in Nallamala.
Rajendra Singh expressed his concern as uranium mining would create adverse impact on the environment and pose a major threat on the very survival of mankind. Stating that uranium would badly affect the environment, he opined that the mining would not be safe to the mankind in any manner. The governments were showing indifferent attitude though the rivers, water tanks and water bodies were being polluted and they have no care towards the environment.
He expressed his consent to participate in the programmes initiated by Janasena Party over water conservation, uranium exploration and mining. Pawan Kalyan and Rajendra Singh have decided to meet again to discuss further on these issues.
