The conclave took place at KIMS, Begumpet, and drew over 300 delegates. Experts noted that anaesthesiology has moved beyond its earlier perception. “Earlier, anaesthesiologists were seen as ‘sulaane wale doctors’—those who put patients to sleep. Today, they are the architects of recovery, managing patients before, during, and after surgery,” they observed. They added that the field now focuses on complete patient care across the surgical process.

Meanwhile, speakers highlighted the transformation in clear terms. They said, from ‘Sulaane Wale’ to ‘Jaldi Uthane Wale’, anaesthesiologists are redefining recovery—standing by patients ‘surgery ke saath bhi aur surgery ke baad bhi’.” This shift shows how the specialty now supports faster recovery and improved outcomes.

Dr. Manimala Rao, who inaugurated the event, stressed the evolving role of anaesthesiologists. She said, “Monitors may have made modern practice simpler, but anaesthesiologists themselves are the real monitors. Ours is a unique specialty—we not only make patients sleep but also ensure they wake up safely and recover faster.” Her remarks highlighted the importance of clinical expertise.

Dr. M. Chandrashekar also reflected on the journey of the field. He said, “We have come a long way. Today, in any emergency, the first call is often to the anaesthesiologist. Our role is now pivotal.” Therefore, experts agreed that anaesthesiologists are now central to modern healthcare systems.
