Abu Dhabi, Sept. 12: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan held bilateral talks in New Delhi on Saturday.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 18th BRICS Summit. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and NSA Ajit Doval attended the meeting.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and other senior officials were also present.
Modi and Sheikh Khaled exchanged greetings and shared a warm hug before the meeting.
Sheikh Khaled arrived in New Delhi on Friday to attend the BRICS Summit hosted by India.
BRICS Summit Highlights India UAE Strategic Partnership
The Ministry of External Affairs said the visit would strengthen the India UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
It also highlighted cooperation in trade and energy security for shared prosperity.
India is hosting the two day 18th BRICS Summit at Bharat Mandapam on September 12 and 13.
The summit will focus on intra BRICS cooperation and global and regional issues.
India’s 2026 BRICS chairship follows the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.”
The grouping includes 11 member countries, including India, the UAE, Russia, China and Brazil.
BRICS also has 10 partner countries, including Belarus, Cuba, Kazakhstan, Malaysia and Vietnam.
The Abu Dhabi Crown Prince’s visit follows recent high level engagement between India and the UAE.
Modi and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in France in June.
They reviewed cooperation in technology, trade, investment, energy and defence.
The two leaders also discussed regional and global developments of mutual interest.
