PM Modi Arrives In UAE, India Signs Key Agreements With Abu Dhabi

Hyderabad, May 15: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Abu Dhabi on Friday as part of his official visit to the United Arab Emirates aimed at strengthening strategic and economic ties between the two countries.

UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan accorded a grand welcome to Prime Minister Modi upon his arrival.

The Prime Minister also received a ceremonial Guard of Honor during the official reception in Abu Dhabi.

During the visit, India and the UAE signed several agreements covering strategic partnership, defence cooperation, energy security and investments.

Officials said both countries discussed expanding bilateral cooperation in key sectors, including defence, petroleum reserves, shipping infrastructure and construction investments.

According to official information, India and the UAE signed agreements related to strategic defence partnership and bilateral defence cooperation.

An MoU was also signed on strategic petroleum reserves and LPG supply to strengthen India’s energy security.

Officials said the agreement is expected to enhance oil and gas supply cooperation between the two nations.

Both countries also agreed to establish a ship repair cluster at Vadinar to improve maritime and shipping collaboration.

In addition, agreements were signed for nearly 5 billion dollars in investments in India’s construction and infrastructure sectors, including projects linked to financial institutions such as RBL Bank and Samman Capital.

The visit comes amid heightened tensions in West Asia following recent attacks targeting oil facilities in the UAE.

India had earlier condemned the attacks and reiterated support for regional stability and security.

Prime Minister Modi also expressed concern over attempts to target civilian and energy infrastructure in the region.

Following the UAE visit, the Prime Minister is scheduled to continue his multi nation tour covering Netherlands, Sweden, Norway and Italy.

The visit is expected to focus on trade, energy cooperation, defence partnerships and strategic investments across Europe and the Gulf region.
