PM Modi Releases 109 Types of High-Yielding Seeds To Surge Productivity And Farmer’s Income

Delhi/Hyderabad, Aug 11 (Maxim News): Prime Minister Narendra Modi released a new variety of seeds to increase agricultural productivity. Modi released a total of 109 new varieties of seeds at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute in New Delhi along with scientists and farmers.

Prime Minister Modi said that this is a step forward in the Central Government’s efforts to produce high-yielding and biofortified varieties of seeds that can withstand current climate conditions.

Prime Minister Modi interacted with scientists and farmers at the seed release program held at IARL. He said the importance of new types of seeds. These innovations will have a significant impact on agriculture. People of the country are shifting towards nutritional options. Modi reminded the growing importance of millets. He said that the benefits of natural agriculture and organic farming methods will increase the health confidence of the common people.

Among the 109 types of seeds released by the Prime Minister, 34 are field seeds and 27 are horticultural seeds. Field crop seeds include millets, fodder crops, oilseeds, pulses, sugarcane, cotton, and other cereals. Horticultural crops include various types of fruits, vegetables, garden crops, tubers, spices, flowers, and medicinal plants.

Prime Minister Modi asked Krishi Vijnana Kendras to inform the farmers about the benefits of this new type of seeds every month so that the benefits of the innovation reach as many farmers as possible. PM Modi appreciated the contribution of Krishi Vijnana Kendram to the government’s efforts in promoting natural agriculture. PM Modi also praised the role of scientists in developing new varieties of seeds.

Prime Minister Modi said that the government aims to bring one crore farmers into natural farming in the next two years to promote natural farming. As part of this strategy, the Central government will provide certification and branding support to the farmers. PM Modi said that to achieve self-sufficiency in pulses and oilseeds, the government is planning to strengthen their production, storage, and marketing.  (Maxim News)
