Internet, June28: Prime Minister Narendra Modi thanked citizens for responding to his earlier appeal to reduce gold purchases and adopt fuel saving measures amid the ongoing uncertainty linked to the West Asia situation. He made the remarks during the 135th episode of his monthly radio programme, Mann Ki Baat, on Sunday.
Modi said citizens had actively supported the appeal and adopted practical changes in daily life. He said many families postponed new gold purchases and chose alternatives, while others reduced fuel consumption through shared transport and changed travel plans.
PM Modi Highlights Sports and Conservation Efforts
Speaking on youth development, the Prime Minister highlighted sports initiatives in Nagaland. He praised the Nagaland Baby League for encouraging children between five and twelve years of age to participate in sports and also appreciated the Nagaland Women’s Futsal League for creating opportunities for girls.
Explaining futsal, Modi said the indoor format of football encourages faster decision making and helps young players develop skills in a competitive environment.
The Prime Minister also praised conservation efforts in Assam to protect the endangered hargila bird. He referred to the work led by biologist Purnima Devi Barman and the Hargila Army, which helped transform local attitudes towards the bird and encouraged community participation in conservation.
