Jaffar claims that during the late-night incident, police officers caned him indiscriminately, resulting in a leg injury. He stated, “I was closing my shop when the police arrived and started beating me.”

In response, Borabanda Inspector of Police A. Veerasekhar defended the officers’ actions, explaining that a constable used a cane to disperse a late-night gathering at the shop.
