Police Arrested Raghunandan Rao While Going to Gajwel
Hyderabad, July 5 (Maxim News) BJP MLA Raghunandan Rao has been arrested by the police. He has been detained by Hakeempet Air Force Station and taken to Alwal Police while he was on the way to Gajwel from Hyderabad.
Raghunandan Rao was arrested by the police when he was on his way to visit the Hindu youths affected by the clashes near the Shivaji statue in Gajwel.
Tension erupted in Gajwel town after a man urinated in front of the Shivaji statue under the influence of alcohol. As the person who urinated was a Muslim, the Hindu brothers who observed it, under the leadership of Bhagat Youth, a Shivaji idol committee, caught the man and handed him over to the police station. Later he complained to the CI.
He asked to register a case. A rally was held from the police station to shivaji statue. While returning from the rally, unknown persons tried to attack two people who participated in the rally, Madhu was going towards the police station and Sandeep was attacked on the head with a bottle of almond milk. In this incident, Sandeep was injured in the head and all the Hindus reached Ambedkar Chowrasta and held a dharna and rasta roko.
As the agitation continued till Monday night, Siddipet CP Swetha reached the spot and promised to arrest the accused. There was tension in the town from Tuesday morning. A tense atmosphere arose when all the Hindu communities were holding a rally from the Shivaji statue and reached Madina Masjid on the market road. Many people threw flags on top of the mosque, while others pelted stones. Gajwel ACP Ramesh reached there and tried to apprehend them, but the Muslims in the Mosque shouted slogans and once again pelted stones.
Police reached the spot and diverted the protesters towards Indira Park Chaurasta. Later, a dharna was held at Ambedkar Chowrasta for an hour. In this order, Muslims started protesting at the Mosque, and Commissioner of Police Swetha tried to pacify both groups. (Maxim News)
