Hyderabad, Aug 14 (Maxim News) : The Union Home Ministry has announced service medals for 1,057 personnel from police and related services ahead of Independence Day.
The awards recognise personnel who showed exceptional service, courage and dedication in different fields. The selected personnel belong to police, fire services, home guards and civil defence departments.
The ministry has selected 92 personnel for the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service. It has also chosen 301 personnel for the Police Medal for Gallantry.
Furthermore, 664 personnel have been selected for the Police Medal for Meritorious Service. The awards will recognise their contributions to public safety and national service.
Telangana gets 15 medals, Andhra Pradesh gets 21
Among the 301 gallantry awardees, 197 personnel served in areas affected by terrorism. In addition, 51 personnel from Jammu and Kashmir and 12 from the northeastern states have been selected for gallantry medals.
Telangana has received 15 medals in the latest list. Three police personnel from the state have been selected for gallantry medals. Two personnel have been chosen for the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service.
Another 10 personnel from Telangana have been selected for Police Medals for Meritorious Service. Additional Deputy Commissioner Jogula Narsaiah and SP R. Jagadishwar Reddy will receive the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service.
Junior Commandos B. Satyarao, K. Sandeep Kumar and J. Vamsi Krishna have been selected for gallantry medals.
Andhra Pradesh has secured 21 medals in the national awards list. Seven police personnel from the state have been selected for gallantry medals.
Two Andhra Pradesh officers have been chosen for the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service. Another 11 personnel have received the Police Medal for Meritorious Service.
IG Gudi Vijay Kumar and IG Balankari Venkata Rama Reddy have been selected for the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service.
Head Constables Korlana Mahesh, Paidi Sriramamurthy and Adari Hemasundara Rao are among the gallantry awardees from Andhra Pradesh. Chintapalli Satyanarayana, Routhu Mahesh, Abothula Appalanaidu and Ruthala Kannababu have also been selected.
The Central Bureau of Investigation has also secured 21 medals. Six CBI officers have been selected for the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service.
Meanwhile, 15 CBI personnel have been selected for Police Medals for Meritorious Service. Visakhapatnam CBI DSP Sanjay Kumar Samal has been chosen for the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service.
The service medals recognise sustained performance, bravery and commitment among personnel serving in security and emergency services. The annual awards are announced around Independence Day to honour distinguished service across the country. (Maxim News)
