Ponnam Prabhakar on Pawan Kalyan | Hyderabad, June 2 (Maxim News): Telangana Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar strongly reacted to remarks made by Jana Sena Party chief and Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan regarding Telangana.
The minister said Telangana belongs to its people and rejected Pawan Kalyan’s comments questioning whether Telangana was anyone’s personal domain.
Addressing a media conference at Gandhi Bhavan on Tuesday, Ponnam Prabhakar said Telangana was achieved through decades of struggle and the sacrifices of hundreds of martyrs. Therefore, he said, no leader should make remarks that hurt the sentiments of Telangana people.
The minister’s response came after Pawan Kalyan, during a press conference in Hyderabad, questioned attempts to prevent him from holding political activities in Telangana and asked whether Telangana was anyone’s “personal estate.”
Ponnam Prabhakar on Pawan Kalyan Remarks
Ponnam Prabhakar said Telangana was indeed the legacy of the people who fought for statehood and the generations that contributed to the region’s identity. He alleged that Pawan Kalyan once again displayed arrogance through his comments.
Furthermore, the minister claimed that Pawan Kalyan himself admitted that he lacked political strength in Andhra Pradesh and was now attempting to enter Telangana politics. He said people of both Telugu states wanted cordial relations after bifurcation while respecting each other’s political boundaries.
Referring to Jana Sena’s proposed “Telangana Nava Nirman Sabha,” Ponnam questioned what political space the party intended to create in Telangana. He also alleged that Pawan Kalyan was acting as an “artist” engaged either by the BJP or the BRS and claimed that those parties were not providing him with the right political script.
Moreover, he compared Pawan Kalyan’s political entry into Telangana to a screen test conducted before casting an actor in a film. According to him, Telangana politics was now testing the Jana Sena chief.

Ponnam clarified that neither the government nor the Congress party objected to Pawan Kalyan visiting Telangana. However, he argued that organizing a politically charged meeting on Telangana Formation Day could create unnecessary controversy.
The minister also stated that Telangana has always welcomed people from Andhra Pradesh and other regions. At the same time, he asked whether Pawan Kalyan had actively supported the Telangana movement or stood with Telangana martyrs during the statehood struggle.
His remarks have intensified the political exchange between the Congress and Jana Sena parties, following the controversy surrounding permission for the proposed Telangana Nava Nirman Sabha in Hyderabad.
