Assault in an Empty Ladies’ Coach

Revathi had boarded the train at 6:40 AM with an unreserved ticket and was seated in the ladies’ coach. At the time, at least seven other women were also present, officials said. However, when the train reached Jolarpettai Railway Station around 10:15 AM, all the other passengers disembarked, leaving Revathi alone in the compartment.

Seizing the opportunity, the accused, Hemaraj (27), boarded the ladies’ coach as the train started moving. He initially sat quietly but soon attempted to assault the woman. When she resisted by kicking him, Hemaraj reacted violently and threw her out of the moving train.

Victim Sustains Multiple Injuries

Revathi suffered injuries to her hands, legs, and head due to the fall. Authorities rushed her to Vellore Government Hospital, where she is currently receiving treatment. Officials confirmed that she was on her way to visit her mother when the attack occurred.

Police Arrest the Offender

Based on the victim’s statement, police registered a case and swiftly arrested Hemaraj. Investigations revealed that he is a habitual offender with a criminal history, including previous involvement in a similar assault case. He had also been arrested earlier for charges of murder and robbery.

Authorities have assured strict action against the accused and are reviewing safety measures to prevent such incidents on trains.
