Premium Petrol Price Increased By Rs. 2

Delhi/Hyderabad, Mar 20 (Maxim News) Oil companies have given a shock to premium petrol consumers. In the wake of rising crude oil prices in the international market, they have decided to increase the price of premium petrol domestically by Rs 2.09 per liter. However, there has been no change in the prices of normal petrol, giving relief to ordinary motorists.

As per the latest update on March 20, 2026, these details are as follows. In Hyderabad, the current regular petrol price remains at Rs. 107.50 per liter. However, with the latest hike, premium petrol prices have reached Rs. 118 to Rs. 122 at various stations. Similar changes are also seen in metro cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Chennai.

Reasons for the increase in premium petrol prices

On the other hand, oil companies have kept the prices of regular petrol and diesel used by the common people across the country unchanged. While the price of a liter of petrol in Delhi remains at Rs. 94.77, in Hyderabad it is stable at around Rs. 107.50. Even though international crude oil prices have crossed $100 per barrel, the government is currently controlling retail prices from increasing.

Relief for regular petrol consumers:

Despite the increase in prices of premium petrol (brands like Power/Speed/XP95), the government has kept regular petrol and diesel prices unchanged for now. As per the decision taken by the central government to avoid additional burden on the common man, oil companies have not changed the normal petrol rates. This is likely to prevent an increase in the cost of transportation of essential goods.

Economists are warning that if the international situation continues like this, regular petrol prices may also increase in the future. But for now, the government is keeping prices under control through tax cuts or adjusting oil companies’ profits. Those who use premium petrol will now have to pay an additional Rs. 2 per liter.
