On Saturday, Dr. Jitender held a review meeting at his office with Station House Officers (SHOs) from across the state. Addressing the officers, he recalled his early days after being selected for the Civil Services. He said he had consulted many people before choosing a service, and found that many were hesitant about joining the Indian Police Service (IPS).

“After 33 years of service, I now feel proud to be part of a police force that is ranked number one in the country,” the DGP said.

Dr. Jitender explained that Telangana achieved the top ranking based on 32 key performance indicators such as training, infrastructure, reception, and overall operations. He credited this recognition to the collective hard work and discipline of police personnel across the state.

He urged all SHOs to continue this momentum by delivering efficient and transparent policing.

“We must work with discipline and focus on delivering justice to victims. Accept complaints with empathy and ensure fair and thorough investigations. That’s how we uphold the truth,” he emphasized.

The DGP reminded officers that the police exist to serve and protect the public, and any failure in delivering justice would damage the department’s reputation. To improve transparency and performance, QR codes have been introduced at all police stations, and their usage is being closely tracked. He also stressed the importance of understanding the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) thoroughly.

“Ask your family and those around you for honest feedback. Align your work with public expectations and aim to be known as responsible, respected officers.”

Additional DGP (Law & Order) Sri Mahesh M. Bhagwat also addressed the gathering. He highlighted that senior officers could be held accountable in court if mistakes are made at lower levels. He reminded SHOs to act responsibly and earn respect both within the department and from the public.

He also pointed out that Telangana Police personnel are among the better-paid in the country and urged everyone to avoid corruption, as it could harm the department’s image.

AIG Sri Ramana Kumar, DSP Satyanarayana, and other senior officers were also present at the meeting.
