New Delhi, August 17: Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi criticised the Centre after the NTA announced a UGC NET re examination for three subjects.
The NTA will re conduct the Sociology, English and Commerce papers after reporting multiple errors.
Gandhi said students who spent years preparing must now repeat the examination. He accused the government of failing to ensure accountability.
UGC NET Re Exam Dates Announced
The NTA had conducted the UGC NET exams between June 22 and 30. However, it later received complaints about errors in three question papers.
Gandhi alleged that students must bear the consequences of mistakes made by the testing agency. He also questioned whether the papers had been leaked before the examination.
He called for accountability within the NTA and sought action against its leadership.
Meanwhile, the NTA has scheduled the English and Commerce papers for September 9. The Sociology examination will take place on September 10.
The agency said candidates will not have to pay additional fees. It also said seat allocation will not be reduced.
The UGC NET determines eligibility for Assistant Professor appointments, PhD admissions and Junior Research Fellowship awards.
The June 2026 examination covered 87 subjects. The NTA said a committee examined complaints about the three papers and recommended re examinations.
The agency said the remaining 84 subjects will follow the scheduled result process.
