Rahul Gandhi Betrayed Telangana As LoP, Alleges KTR

Hyderabad, July 3 (Maxim News): BRS working president K. Taraka Rama Rao (KTR) launched a scathing attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of betraying the people of Telangana during his tenure as Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha.

KTR alleged that Rahul Gandhi failed to raise any of Telangana’s key concerns in Parliament, particularly the pending promises under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014. He claimed that the Congress leader had remained indifferent to critical issues such as:

  • National status for irrigation projects
  • Bayyaram steel plant
  • Controversial Bankacherla water diversion project by Andhra Pradesh

“Rahul Gandhi didn’t raise a single voice for Telangana in Parliament. His silence on the Bankacherla project, which threatens to divert Godavari water from our farmers, speaks volumes about his complicity,” KTR said in a post on social media platform X.

The BRS leader accused Gandhi of making empty promises during the Assembly elections and disappearing after the polls, leaving Telangana’s development in limbo.

“After peddling hollow 420 promises in Telangana’s Assembly polls, he vanished like a shadow, leaving Congress to bask in power while Telangana’s aspirations rot,” KTR added.

A Renewed Political Face-Off

This sharp criticism signals the intensifying rivalry between BRS and Congress in Telangana, with KTR holding the Congress leadership directly accountable for what he calls a lack of commitment to the State’s cause.

KTR’s remarks have sparked renewed debate over the Centre’s inaction on Telangana-specific demands, with growing pressure on Congress to respond to the accusations made by the former minister.
