Rahul Gandhi Criticises DU Advisory Asking Students To Stay Away From Jantar Mantar Protests

New Delhi, July 24: Congress leader and Lok Sabha MP Rahul Gandhi on Friday criticised Delhi University (DU) over its advisory asking students to stay away from the ongoing protests at Jantar Mantar over the alleged NEET UG paper leak.

Rahul Gandhi said students should not be threatened for exercising their democratic rights and questioned the university over the advisory.

Responding on social media platform X, Rahul Gandhi alleged that threatening students for participating in democratic activities was unacceptable.

He questioned who had authorised the university to issue such warnings and said those attempting to curtail students’ rights would be held accountable in the future.

Earlier, Delhi University issued an advisory asking students and faculty members to avoid the protest site at Jantar Mantar.

The university said restrictions on protests at the venue were being enforced in accordance with Supreme Court guidelines and cautioned that participation in unlawful gatherings could invite legal consequences.

DU also stated that attending such protests could pose risks to students’ personal safety and potentially affect their education and future career prospects.

In addition, the university urged students to be cautious about misinformation circulating on social media and advised them to verify facts before believing or sharing any information.
