Rajagopal’s arrogance led to Munugodu by-election: Jeevan Reddy

Hyderabad, Oct.12 (NSS): Congress MLC and former minister T. Jeevan Reddy today said the arrogance of BJP candidate from Munugodu Assembly constituency Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy was responsible for the by-election. He said although Rajagopal Reddy has one year to solve problems in his constituency, he had decided to resign from his MLA post and face the by-election. Jeevan Reddy termed the decision of the Rajagopal Reddy to resign from his post as completely irresponsible.

Addressing media persons at CLP office along with party senior leader G. Niranjan, Jeevan Reddy asked Rajagopal Reddy whether he held a dharna for Sivannagudem farmers’ compensation from his constituency while noting that Rajagopal Reddy would once again become an MLA even if he won in the upcoming by-election.

Targeting TRS party, he alleged that the ruling party was trying to win the by-election on the basis of its power. He also alleged that the TRS and BJP were offering ₹10,000 per vote in Munugodu. G. Niranjan took strong exception to the comments of chairman of the Telangana State Legislative Council Gutta Sukhender Reddy, who urged the voters of Munugodu to vote for the ruling TRS party in the upcoming by-election. He said the chairman should resign from his post as he was not supposed to make such a plea while continuing in a constitutional post.

Jeevan Reddy reminded Sukhender Reddy that posts like the Speaker of Lok Sabha, chairman of Rajya Sabha, Assembly Speaker and chairman of legislative council were constitutional posts. He said those occupy those posts would do so after resigning from their party memberships. He also alleged that Assembly Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy and Council chairman Gutta Sukhender Reddy were acting in favour of the ruling TRS party. (NSS)
