Rajnath Singh consoles Krishnam Raju’s family members

Hyderabad, Sept.16 (NSS): Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh today visited the family members of actor UV Krisn Raju, who died recently after a prolonged illness, here. He met with Raju’s wife Shyamala Devi and his two daughters. The nephew of Krishnam Raju and pan-India actor Prabhas was also present.

Singh was accompanied by Union minister for tourism & culture G. Kishan Reddy and BJP Rajya Sabha member Dr K. Laxman during the visit. He expressed his heartfelt condolences to the wife Krishnam Raju on his death. MP Laxman explained about the treatment provided to Krishnam Raju to Singh on the occasion.

Rajnath also took part in a condolence meeting held in the memory of Krishnam Raju by Kshatriya Sevan Samithi at JRC convention centre. Speaking on the occasion, Rajnath Singh said Krishnam Raju was his dear friend. He recalled that Raju used to talk in an affectionate manner whenever he met him in Delhi. He said he had become very close to Raju when the latter was a Union minister of State in Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s cabinet. He said he did not find Krishnam Raju as suffering from health problems when he met him a couple of days back in Delhi. He said he was shocked after hearing about the news of the death of Raju.

The Defence Minister said Krisham Raju used to address him as his big brother despite the fact he was younger to him. He recalled that he had specially appreciated Krishnam Raju’s nephew Prabhas after the thumping success of his movie Bahubali along with krishnam Raju.

Union minister G. Kishan Reddy recalled that Krishnam Raju called him up recently and wanted to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said Krishnam Raju felt very sad for not attending the Alluri Sitharama Raju statue unveiling function in Vizag.

State Minister Talasani Srinivasa Yadav said Krishnam Raju was known for his humility and modest character and added that the veteran actor did several films in his 55 year long film career. He said Chief Minister KCR had a great relation with Krishnam Raju and added that the CM had organised the funeral program of Raju with all State honours. He said they would install a statue of Krishnam Raju in Film Nagar. (NSS)
